This past week was a little bit of a let down for me. I tried some new to me authors and out of the 10 books I read, I have just 4 to tell you about.
Here they are:
Green Fields: Escalation by Adrienne Lecter - 5 Stars*****
Is anybody out there?
After a long winter spent hunkering down in Wyoming, Bree, Nate, and the gang are back on the road. The harsh temperatures up in the northern regions might have decimated the undead scourge somewhat, but soon they have to face reality: it’s not just zombies that are out there to hunt people down and kill them.
For humanity to have a fighting chance to rebuild a semblance of civilization, everyone will have to work together—and resources are scarce. Someone will have to go out there and face the danger—and maybe find out what happened to the undead that were smart enough to flee the cold. Only the strong and smart have survived, making everyday life just a little more deadly for everyone.
Zomb-Pocalypse 4 by Megan Berry - 4 Stars****
The bitter cold of winter settles over the mountain,
sweeping through the zombies and freezing them solid where they stand. A
welcome reprieve, but Jane and her group of rag-tag survivors aren't out of the
woods yet. It's a struggle for survival for Jane and the others, who are out of
touch without modern conveniences like electricity and heat. This causes a
steep learning curve for the group, one with deadly consequences if they fail.
The weather isn't the only thing causing dissension within
the walls of the cabin- the discovery of immunity to the zombie virus has the
group divided on how to move forward.
Living with other people can be difficult during the best of
times, but trying to hold it together in the apocalypse, can seem impossible.
The Girl Who Punched Back by Angel Lawson - 4 Stars****
That moment when Alexandra realizes rabid zombie monsters
are no longer the biggest threat...
Three months have passed since Alexandra traveled through
the wasted death fields to reach her sister, Jane. There's no resemblance to
her former life. No college. No best friend. Her mother is dead. Her father and
her friend, Cole, toil away in the labs of her sister's research facility,
working to create a vaccine for the virus that ravages the living.
Hope for a cure is dampened by the growing society Jane has
developed. Armed troops fill The Fort, and the only way Alex knows how to keep
an eye on her sister is by joining the elite Fighter army led by Wyatt, a
mercenary and deadly soldier. Some days, Alex considers him a friend. The rest
of the time, she's unsure where his loyalties lie. The truth is, Alex isn't
always sure about herself, either.
All Alex wants is to right the wrongs of her sister's
dangerous meddling, but Jane has bigger plans than vaccinating the survivors.
Alex and her allies quickly learn that rabid cannibals are not the biggest
problems facing mankind, but at what lengths will they have to go to save the
world?
