My Week In Review: 4/8/17-4/15/17

This past week I found that one of my all time favorite zombie series had been added to the Kindle Unlimited library - and I was thrilled.  I was able to finish up that series and start on the spinoff series as well.  :)  I was a very happy reading camper.

Here they are:

Love & Decay, Season 2 by Rachel Higginson
5 Stars*****

Zombies- as if that wasn’t enough to ruin any girl’s dream of happily ever after.

Reagan Willow didn’t think it was possible to feel safe during the Zombie Apocalypse. She didn’t think it was possible to fall in love or find happiness either. But Hendrix Parker has changed all of that for her.

Hendrix and Reagan have overcome incredible obstacles to be together and keep their loved ones safe. Through it all, they’ve had each other to rely on.

But nothing is certain at the end of the world and even their unshakable love is at risk. So are their lives.

Zombies are the least of their problems, as Reagan and friends fight to survive the horrors that wait for them around every corner. They will go up against the undead, a ruthless dictator and the one boy that will do anything to possess her.

Love and Decay, Season Two Omnibus is a compilation of twelve novellas in a Dystopian Romance about Zombies, the end of the world and finding someone to share it with.

Love & Decay, Season 3 by Rachel Higginson
5 Stars*****

Zombies- as if that wasn’t enough to ruin any girl’s dream of a happily ever after.

Reagan and her friends fought a hard battle to escape the Colony. They lost loved ones, made sacrifices they hadn’t been ready for and did whatever they had to in order to stay together.

Now they face a new battleground and the stakes are higher than ever.

Reagan has led the group to Mexico, where the gang hopes to get as far from the Colony’s malicious plans for revenge as possible. Except Mexico has its own obstacles and enemies.

Even in the Zombie Apocalypse there is still wealth to claim and power to steal. Reagan makes enemies easily and soon Mexico is another version of hell.

Will they make it through alive? Or will more loved ones be lost as they travel to find their freedom from Feeders and the evil men of this end of the world?

Revolution, Volume 1 by Rachel Higginson

It’s not easy being a badass Zombie killer. But somebody’s got to do it.

Page Parker grew up in the aftermath of the Zombie Apocalypse. She grew up running from Zombies and fighting against the constant threat of death and disease. She knows what it’s like to suffer, to go hungry, to hurt… to lose loved ones.

But Page isn’t a little girl anymore.

And she’s no longer satisfied with the quaint life her family has carved out in their remote research station. She craves conflict. She demands retribution. She will stop at nothing until she has her revenge.

Matthias Allen is responsible for her older brother’s death. For her family’s banishment from the former United States. He’s killed, he’s tortured and now he runs his Colony with all the cruel brutality of an evil tyrant.

Someone needs to make him pay for his sins.

And since she was nine-years-old, Page has believed that person to be her.

She’ll just have to convince her family to leave their home, travel the length of South America and take on a psychotic dictator first.

The Devil in Disguise by Cynthia Eden - 4 Stars****

Don’t make the devil angry…

Luke Thorne loves having one hell of a good time. As the ruler of every dark creature to walk the earth, he certainly has more than a bit of a bad side. He lives for danger and isn’t the type to lose his heart—mostly because he doesn’t have one. Then she walks into his life.

Mina James is seduction in the flesh, a perfect temptation that the devil himself couldn’t pass up. Too late, Luke realizes he’s let a real siren into his life, a woman who is bent on using his dark powers to free herself from hidden enemies. Since Luke isn’t the type of man to be used, he should walk away from her, but…something about Mina draws him close.

Soon he’s realizing that she isn’t who she appears to be. Not dark and cold, but burning red hot. Mina is a woman fighting for her life—and the Lord of the Dark suddenly finds himself in an unlikely role…hero. Luke isn’t going to let her enemies destroy Mina. He will fight heaven and hell to keep her. But in the end, the secrets they both carry may just rip apart a love that should never have been…

There are Bad Things in the world…very, very bad. Are you ready for them?

Raw Power by Ambrose Ibsen - 4 Stars****

Howdy. My name's Lucian Colt.

I'm one of those disgruntled millennials you've heard about on the evening news. I've got a master's degree in Art History, a mountain of student loan debt and no job to show for it.

Wait, scratch that. I track down stolen pieces of art for wealthy clients and then beat whoever stole them to within an inch of their life. Say what you will, but it puts bread on the table.

Something went wrong with this last job of mine, though. I walked in on something I wasn't supposed to see and got murdered by witches. Yeah, real, legit witches. Never saw that one coming, did you? Neither did I, and the only reason I'm writing this is because some doctor working for an ancient secret society decided it would be a good idea to use me as a science experiment.

See, he implanted a new heart in me and saved my life, but it wasn't just any old heart. It was a demon's heart. Nifty, eh?

Anyhow, I'm back and better than ever, except that, now and then, the demon takes over completely and I do awful things. Lose control. But enough about that. This is a story about how I (mostly) rein in the demon's impulsive personality and seek revenge against the coven of witches that tried to kill me. Along the way, I learn a thing or two about this secret society I'm apparently now a member of and find out that there's a lot of shit out there that goes “bump” in the night.

Hunting Down Dragons by Tricia Owens - 3 Stars***

Death is coming for you, Anne Moody...

The Oddsmakers have been overseeing the use of magick in Las Vegas since the city's inception. For a dragon sorceress like Anne Moody, who tries to stay beneath the radar while running her cursed pawn shop, the Oddsmakers are the boogeymen she never wants to meet. They have the power to strip of her of her magick or worse if they deem her a danger to the city.

Unfortunately, the Oddsmakers want her for a mission and Anne can't refuse. However, she has her own agenda: investigating a sorcerer who possesses the power to not only create life, but to raise the dead. With the gargoyle Vale by her side and with the help of her magickal friends, Anne tracks strange creatures beneath the streets of Las Vegas. But when tragedy strikes close to home, Anne realizes she may have to risk the wrath of the Oddsmakers and call upon her dragon for help. Because in the isolated desert, far from the eyes of ordinary humans, she is about to confront her parents' killer. Nothing is going to stop her from finding vengeance.

Empowered Agent by Dale Ivan Smith - 3 Stars***

The world says those with superpowers are either heroes or villains. But what if you’re both?

Mathilda Brandt isn’t the angry, out-of-control teenager she was before she got out of jail. She’s hungry for a chance at a normal life, but when a gang threatens her sisters, she has no choice but to use her illegal superpower to protect them.

A secretive government agency gives her a choice: go back to prison for life, or infiltrate a notorious super-villain group in order to stop a psychotic Empowered. To save her city, her family, and herself, Mat must become the last thing she ever wanted to be again: a criminal.

Blood Sacrifice by N.P. Martin - 2 Stars**

In a town where magic festers beneath the surface and monsters stalk the shadows, someone has to fight for the innocent. That someone is me.

They call me sorcerer, fixer, finder, but mostly they call me Creed. Been hexed by a witch? Being stalked by a werewolf? Haunted by a crazy ghost? I’m the one you call to get my hands dirty, so you don’t have to.

So when I got a call from a grieving parent to find their missing daughter, I was happy to help. Trouble is, what started out as another garden variety missing person case just ended up with me being hexed by an occult serial killer.

They made a mistake, though, whoever they are, when they cursed me.

They should have killed me instead.

Stolen Chaos by A. C. Nicholls - 2 Stars**

For twenty-eight years, Keira Poe has defended Chicago against creatures of the night. Armed with an array of magic weapons known as 'magicards', she is always eager to show trouble to the door. But when one of those cards is stolen by a ruthless mage, there's nothing she won't do to get it back.

In order to succeed, Keira - along with her cowardly, middle-aged faery - must follow the trail of carnage. Stopping for a battle at every turn, any hope of locating the thief only gets slimmer... until she meets Jason; the handsome shifter with a chip on his shoulder, and the only help she will get.

The war between the monsters grows greater than ever. Caught in the middle of it all, Keira must pick a side and stick with it, or risk losing her magic forever, along with anything the mage chooses to destroy.

That wraps up my week.  I hope you found some great reads this week as well.  :)

Thanks for stopping by,
Michelle
